Senate Bill 2330 is now headed for full Senate vote! QUICK OVERVIEW (14 Co-Sponsors)

Bill Highlights: Establishes a 16-member Commission (50% minimum must be Olympians/Paralympians). All 16 Commission members will be required to have experience in athletics, health advocacy, and/or coaching. The Commission will study the structure of the USOPC and recommend ways to strengthen the organization for athletes. The Commission will submit a final report that details its findings, recommendations, policy changes, and conclusions to Congress which will then rewrite a new and relevant U.S. Sports and Athletes Act.

The bipartisan Senate Bill 2330, Empowering Olympic and Amateur Athletes Act of 2019, merges two bills:

  1. Moran-Blumenthal Bill (Stronger Congressional oversight)
  2. Gardner-DeGette Bills (16-person Commission - comprised of 50% athletes at a minimum)
